Jenny Ross

Jenny Ross
I received my doctorate in physical therapy from San Diego State University where I participated in research on pain modulation in chronic spine pain populations. Through the biomechanics lab at the Extremity Trauma and Amputation Center of Excellence at Naval Medical Center San Diego I authored an abstract on kinesiophobia in chronic knee pain in active duty military personnel; kinesiophobia is fear of movement that impacts not only knee pain but a wide variety of rehab injuries. My doctoral education emphasized manual, biomechanical, and functional assessment and treatment spanning various ages, pathologies, and body regions. My clinical experience has focused on outpatient and sports orthopedics, as well as injury prevention and strength and conditioning training. I have been an avid athlete from a young age, and I played just about every sport available growing up. I eventually focused my efforts in elite soccer and was recruited into the Olympic Development Program as a teenager. Later on, I continued with my love of sports through UC San Diego club soccer. Injury pushed me to venture away from a running-dominant sport toward the physical and mental challenge and peace that I found in rock climbing. Such transitions deepened my compassion for returning to sports after injuries and programming strength and conditioning to prevent future injury. I would love to work with you on your rehab and performance goals!
